Goldie Walston

This is a picture of Goldie Walston, my mom, and me when I was just born. Goldie Walston was the founder of the Community Center of Red Bluff. I was about a week and a half old. This picture is in the First Baptist Church. 

Goldie was the mother of five kids. She started slowly raising money for a community center by placing prettily wrapped cans in stores. When people saw she was serious, they started giving larger donations. Speeding up, the government matched their amount and that helped. Finally, they finished. A plaque hangs in memory of Goldie on a wall in our own Community Center. Thanks, Mrs. Walston!
